With no production credits from the good doctor on the upcoming Bad Meets Evil EP, rap fans have been wondering whether Eminem and Royce Da 5’9” forgot about Dre. Not exactly. During Wednesday’s (May 18) “RapFix Live,” Slim Shady explained Dre’s absence on their upcoming joint project, titled Hell: The Sequel.

“I think Dre is, like, really cracking down on getting Detox finished, so I think he’s more so focused on that,” Em says of the producer who discovered him. Still, it wasn’t like Eminem or Royce reached out to the Doc either. “I really didn’t say anything to Dre till kinda like the last minute. We didn’t really say anything to anybody about what was going on because we weren’t sure what was going to happen with it,” Slim explained to Sway. “It wasn’t like I said, ‘Yo, Dre, can we get a beat for this project that we’re workin’ on?’ Because it wasn’t really necessarily a project yet.”

Hell: The Sequel does feature production work from Mobb Deep’s Havoc, Sid Roams, Bangladesh, Denaun Porter, DJ Khalil and Supa Dups, who produced the project’s first single, “Fast Lane.” Still, there was no real science to selecting the beatmakers who’ll appear on the EP, which is dropping June 14. “We didn’t reach out to any producers, because we were just cuttin’ random,” Royce said. “And we didn’t actually know that we were workin’ on a project.”

Eminem elaborated on how the duo went about securing music for the record. “It was more so that we were getting beat CDs from the label — from Shady and some of the A&Rs there were sending us beat CDs from various producers — and we would hear beats like, ‘That one’s crazy.’ ”

Justin Timberlake, Drake Support ‘Real Men’ Campaign

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher’s foundation against child sex slavery also gets help from Sean Penn and Bradley Cooper.

Some of the biggest men in entertainment are flaunting their acting chops for a good reason. In partnership with Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher’s Real Men Don’t Buy Girls campaign, Justin Timberlake, Drake and a string of other men have come together to film a series of comical spots to promote the movement’s message against child sex slavery.

Kutcher took to Hope140.org to guest blog about the campaign, explaining why he and Moore chose to mix comedy with the issue’s serious undertones.

“We want to engage people, educate them, get them thinking and talking about it, in order to raise awareness and ultimately end child sex slavery,” the actor wrote. “We came up with the concept of the ‘Real Men Don’t Buy Girls’ campaign, which aims to engage people, specifically men, in the issue. To do so, we filmed short, funny videos about things ‘Real Men’ do, starring high-profile influential men and women.”

In short, Kutcher explained that the message of the video campaign is that real men “do a lot of silly, even foolish things,” but they don’t buy children for sex. “That’s not funny, and Real Men don’t do it,” he added.

In Timberlake’s minute-long spot, the singer-turned-actor hums to himself as he lathers his face with shaving cream. However, instead of using a razor to remove his 5-o’clock shadow, the newly single star cranks a chainsaw before a voiceover says: “Real men prefer a close shave.”

Eva Longoria concludes the spot with a framed photo of Timberlake alongside fellow hall of fame “real men.” Standing inside a log cabin, the actress offers another addition to the club: “Perez Hilton is a real man. Are you?” she asks.

Drake presents another strangely comical message in his spot. As he walks down a city street, the Young Money MC puts a cell phone conversation on hold when he sees a beckoning silver robot on a side street. The duo gaze into one another’s eyes before Drake sucker punches the android and walks away. “Real men are distrustful of robots,” says the voiceover.

Other “real men” participating in the campaign spots include Sean Penn, Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx and Jason Mraz, with similar video formats and the same signature closing tagline: “Real men don’t buy girls.”

Fans are slowly learning more and more about Beyoncé’s forthcoming album, 4. With the video for “Run the World (Girls)” set to hit the streets on Friday, a select group of fans and press were treated to a five-song preview of the album and the clip on Wednesday.

Justjared.com reported that the video features pyrotechnics, wild animals, and Beyoncé getting sassy and flashing the middle finger, as well as getting sexy gyrating through the sand. The clip, directed by Francis Lawrence (“Water for Elephants”), also includes a cameo from Mozambican kwaito dance group Tofo Tofo, who Beyoncé personally sought out as inspiration for the video’s moves.

Beyoncé explained at the listening event that the bass line for the track “Till the End of Time” was inspired by late Nigerian music legend Fela Kuti. In the tune, she reportedly sings, “I wanna love you so (hit me)/ I will be the one to kiss you at night … Come on take my hand/ I won’t let you go/ I’ll be your friend/ I will love you so … Turn your rain into sun … Say you’ll never let me go.”

Another song previewed was written by ’90s balladeer Babyface, and on it B sings about revenge. The drums, Justjared.com reports, sound similar to those on “Girls.” Beyoncé also previewed a “moody” ballad on which she sings, “I told you how you hurt me/ I’m crying and deserted but you don’t care/ Nobody told me this is love/ You’re immune to all my pain/ This is love but that’s OK … But I care/ I know you don’t care too much/ But I still care.”

A fourth song heard at the listening samples Boyz II Men’s “Uhh Ahh,” and Beyoncé shared that “[Jay-Z] liked it. I don’t think he was dissecting it, just thinking of what he could do to it as a rapper.” The final previewed tune was another ballad that features the lyrics “I don’t know much about algebra but one plus one is two/ He ain’t got nothing but love/ Darling, you got enough for the both of us/ Make love when my days look low, pull me in close.”

Are you excited to see Beyoncé’s new video and hear her 4 album? Let us know in the comments.

Kanye West, Stevie Wonder To Headline Austin City Limits Festival?

Rumors have both West and Wonder joining Arcade Fire as headliners at September fest.

In recent years, festivals have tried to shake up the usually staid process of revealing their lineups (little more than a press release and an embargo) with “Wheel of Fortune”-style puzzles and marathon MySpace unveils that involved flying light bulbs. But for the 10th anniversary of Austin City Limits, the folks behind the fest have attempted to spice things up by going in the opposite direction: They’re unveiling their lineup via a delightfully lo-fi series of scratch-off cards.

As part of the “Lineup Lottery,” ACL has been distributing cards through various Austin-area venues, and fans can learn who’s on the bill simply by scratching. So far, they’ve revealed names like presumed headliners Arcade Fire, plus My Morning Jacket, Cee Lo and Chromeo. But thanks to an even lower-fi source, we may now know the identity of the other two headliners: Kanye West and Stevie Wonder.

In the June issue of Spin magazine (a scan of which you can see here), both West and Wonder are listed along with Arcade Fire, and, over the weekend, Austin360.com music journo Michael Corcoran wrote on his Twitter account that the rumors “are on the mark.” Reps for either artist could not be reached for comment by press time.

The full Austin City Limits lineup is reportedly set to be unveiled Tuesday. All told, some 150 bands will perform at the fest, which is set for September 16-18 in Austin’s Zilker Park. Three-day passes for the 10th ACL have already sold out, with one-day tickets set to go on sale Tuesday through the fest’s official site.

Hide the women and children because Bad and Evil are coming to “RapFix Live”!

Ever since Eminem and Royce Da 5’9” announced they would be joining forces to drop a Bad Meets Evil EP on Shady Records this June, hip-hop fans have been buzzing with excitement.

This Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, Em and Royce will join MTV News’ Sway Calloway to give us the lowdown on their reunited duo and upcoming EP, Hell: The Sequel. For starters, the rappers reveal which of them is “Bad” and which is “Evil.”

“I’m not Royce today: I’m ‘Bad’; [Eminem] is ‘Evil,’ ” Nickel Nine explained on the set of the duo’s upcoming “Fast Lane” video.

Eminem added, “For the most part, I like my name, and I think I wanna be ‘Evil.’ We’ve had a debate about this before.”

The Detroit MCs formed the duo in 1999 when they appeared together on the track “Bad Meets Evil” on Eminem’s major-label debut, The Slim Shady LP, and released an independent single (with “Nuthin’ to Do,” “Scary Movies” and “I’m King”) on Game Recordings. A feud halted any collaboration for years, but Marshall and Royce have since made peace, and in January it was announced that Royce’s group, Slaughterhouse, was signed to Em’s Shady Records.

Hell: The Sequel — featuring production from Mobb Deep’s Havoc, DJ Khalil, Bangladesh and D12 member Denaun Porter — will be released June 14.

Visit MTV.com on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET to watch Bad Meets Evil on “RapFix Live”!
